My Story

I am John Kenneth Arances Relevo, currently 24 years old. a member of the PNPA MASIDTALAK class of 2023. I live in Poblacion Gitagum Misamis Oriental. My father, who is a retired police commissioned officer, served in the PNP as a Police Lieutenant Colonel, and my mother is still actively serving in the PNP, holding the rank of Police Lieutenant. I have five sisters, and one of them is also a cadet at the Philippine National Police Academy, presently a third-class cadet.

During my formative years, I enrolled in Miraculous Medal Academy in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental, where I was immersed in a highly competitive academic setting. This experience allowed me to hone my communication abilities, specifically in the English language. While the cost of tuition was steep, the investment in my education was undoubtedly worthwhile, as I was exposed to top-notch educators and a superior learning experience.

I studied My Secondary Years at Santo Niño High School, Gitagum Misamis Oriental. The school was a Catholic institution and emphasized the spiritual aspect of learning through religious studies. The curriculum was designed to instill in us a sense of morality and the importance of striving for holiness. This has had a significant impact on my life as I continue to recognize the presence and influence of God in all my decisions. In my senior year, I was appointed as the battalion commander for the Citizen Army Training, which provided me with the opportunity to exercise leadership. Upon completing my studies, I was recognized with the leadership award alongside other outstanding members of the student body council.

I enrolled in my tertiary years at Cagayan de Oro College, Cagayan De Oro City as a Criminology student. I became aware of the privileges that come with being admitted as a cadet of the Philippine National Police Academy during my freshman year. Excited by the possibility and thrilled to discover that I was qualified, I applied to take the PNPACAT. Although I passed the exam on my first attempt, I was not selected for the final list that year. However, the following year, I had another chance to take the exam and once again I passed. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend the physical fitness test that year because of an ankle sprain that I got from playing basketball.

Initially, I believed that remaining focused on my criminology studies was the best path for me. However, one day my discovery of a PNPA Magazine "Kalasag!" changed my perspective. As I perused its pages, I encountered an application form that reminded me that I still had the qualifications and opportunity to pursue a career in the police service as a cadet. Consequently, I took the PNPACAT for the third time, and to my surprise, I was accepted as a cadet. Despite the inevitable challenges, I persevered, bolstered by the support of those who believed and prayed for me and motivated by the fear of disappointing them should I quit. Ultimately, my persistence paid off, and I continue to forge ahead on my journey as a cadet.

If my experience of facing unexpected challenges and obstacles during my application and cadetship journey has brought me to this very moment, I have faith that it can do the same for you. As long as you remain determined and dedicated to pursuing your aspirations, And recognize the fact that life is not always about doing the things that make you happy but doing whatever it takes to reach your goal, and nothing is stopping you from achieving your dreams. Always remember that there is a higher power guiding you toward success, so keep pushing forward and never entertain the thought of giving up until you have accomplished all that you set out to achieve.
