Overview On PCADG by PMAJGEN Eric Escosio Noble

Updated: Feb 20, 2023

Law enforcement is more than just upholding the law and ensuring public safety. It is also about building relationships with the community and gaining their trust and confidence. This is where Robert Peel's quote, "The police are public, and the public is the police," comes into play.

The concept of community policing is not new, but it is essential now more than ever. It is about being proactive rather than reactive, focusing on crime prevention rather than just responding to crime. It involves engaging with the community, understanding their needs and concerns, and working together to find solutions.

The Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG) is a prime example of how law enforcement can work hand in hand with the community. They aim to establish community partnerships, cooperation, and coordination with law enforcement and the government. They produce informational materials for the community, encourage improved police-community interactions, and support the delivery of ongoing training and instruction.

Moreover, the PCADG supports the PNP's socioeconomic and other livelihood programs for the troops and host communities. It also sponsors sports and cultural events, supplemental disaster relief efforts, and other community-related aid and development initiatives. This shows that the PNP is not just about enforcing the law but is also about contributing to the community's overall well-being.

As a cadet, I have learned that law enforcement is not just about physical strength, tactical prowess, and brute force. It also involves the mental and emotional care of the community. We must be approachable, empathetic, and trustworthy to gain the public's trust and cooperation.

Community policing is about building relationships and gaining the community's trust. The police are not separate from the district and should not be perceived as a threat. They are there to protect and serve the community and uphold the law.

In conclusion, the PCADG serves as an important bridge between the community and the PNP. It is a prime example of how law enforcement can work with the community to achieve success, peace, and order. As a cadet, I understand the importance of community policing, and I am committed to upholding the PNP's values and principles. We must continue working with the community and strive towards a safer and more prosperous society.
